I am Joanna Schout. I used to raise Silver Fox rabbits, but now I raise show quality Mini Lops in 4-H. What made me decide to raise Mini Lops was Bandit. I originally got Bandit as a Showmanship rabbit, but after I fell in love with this chubby, cuddly fluffball I decided to raise Mini Lops. Bandit won BOB last year at my local fair. I am just starting out with Mini Lops and am excited to see how my rabbit raising adventure turns out.
My name is Jordan Schout. Originally I raised Polish rabbits, but now I raise Mini Satins for 4-H. I decided to breed Mini Satins because of their small size, fun array of colors, and their unique, shiny fur. I breed to the Standard of Perfection as best as I can and I'm very excited about showing my Mini Satins.
We raise our rabbits in hutches in our backyard. We keep our cages clean as well as we can. We feed Pen Pals rabbit feed. Our Mini Lops usually get a 1/2 cup of pellets, but amount differs depending on the rabbit. Our Mini Satins usually get about a 1/3 cup of pellets. We feed unlimited grass hay and of course they have water at all times. Our rabbits usually don't need much grooming as they have shorter fur, but when they are molting we brush them with a soft bristled brush and before shows we run damp hands over their coat to remove dead fur.
When you buy a rabbit from us you receive a pedigree, a bag of our pellets, and a care sheet. The bag of pellets is necessary so that you can slowly transition your new rabbit from our pellets to whatever you use.
